Welcome to the Indiana District Employees Association (IDEA) web site!

We're glad to have you visit us. What follows will give you an "idea" of what our organization is about. The buttons to the left will provide more detailed information about membership, learning opportunities, and more.

IDEA has the following purposes:

  • To strengthen Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
  • To provide a system whereby the exchange of information and ideas will encourage unification and coordination of district programs throughout the State of Indiana.
  • To encourage excellent fulfillment of duties of district employees in their job capacities.
  • To establish and support continuing education programs for all district employees.
  • To encourage and maintain a stable and harmonious working relationship between district employees, supervisors, and cooperating agency personnel.

Membership in IDEA is open to any SWCD employee supportive of the above purposes. Our organization holds its annual meeting in January of each year in conjunction with the Annual Conference of Indiana SWCDs.

IDEA is managed by a board of directors. One director is elected from each Natural Resources Region and serves a two-year term. The organization's officers (president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer) are elected and serve one-year terms.

IDEA, in partnership with the IASWCD and IDNR Division of Soil Conservation, organizes training meetings and workshops for district employees. In addition, it assists with various events and activities to strengthen soil and water conservation programs throughout Indiana.
